Rébeka Frazer-Chiasson to seek Green Party nomination in Kent North

28 JULY 2014

Rogersville, Monday July 28th, 2014 – Rébeka Frazer-Chiasson announces that she will be seeking the Green Party of New Brunswick nomination in the Kent North riding for the upcoming September 22nd provincial elections.

« The reason I seek this nomination is that the Green Party’s presence in New Brunswick’s legislature has never been more important for the future of our province. Never before have the people had so much to say; paradoxically, never before have they been so blatantly ignored. I wish to offer my riding a viable alternative; it is my way of piecing together my farm work, the undying efforts of our local community organizations and our collective will to be part of sustainable changes. If I plan on making a living here, on this land, it is because I firmly believe that we, together, can make this region and this province one that values and respects its human and natural resources. »

Originally from Rogersville, Rébeka Frazer-Chiasson is a graduate of St. Thomas University where she majored in social justice. Passionate about food sovereignty and community development, she was a part of the province’s poverty reduction strategy and now manages la Ferme Terre Partagée, a human-scaled organic farm. Recently, Rébeka was selected for participation in the 21inc Leadership program.

The nomination meeting will take place at the centre Aqua-Kent in Saint-Louis on August 7th, at 7 pm. The nomination will be followed by a light snack featuring local products from Kent County and a storytelling evening featuring Kevin Arseneau.
