MEGAN MITTON - ELECTED MLA
Megan Mitton grew up in Sackville, NB and graduated from Tantramar Regional High School. She then earned her Bachelor of Arts at McGill University in Montreal, QC, where she studied international development, political science and women’s studies. After several years away, Ms. Mitton and her husband, Steve Geier, decided to return to New Brunswick. They currently reside in their hometown of Sackville with their young daughter. In 2016, Ms. Mitton was elected to serve as a Sackville Town Councillor.
For over 10 years, Ms. Mitton has worked and volunteered in the non-profit sector. She has experience working with homeless and low-income women and children. She has also worked in youth environmental education, public outreach on renewable energy, and addressing climate change. Ms. Mitton is trained as a Community Food Mentor through the NB Food Security Action Network. Her passion for nutrition and wellness led her to become a Registered Holistic Nutritional Consultant.
Ms. Mitton is passionate about addressing the problems in our health care system and ensuring it remains public and that high-quality health care is accessible to all. She wants to help create a prosperous and diverse economy that benefits all New Brunswickers. Ms. Mitton believes that New Brunswick can show leadership in many areas, from poverty reduction to growing our own food here at home, so that young families like hers want to move back or stay here and live in our province. Her dedication to building resilient and strong communities has led her to seek the nomination from the Green Party of NB for Memramcook-Tantramar.
