02 SEPTEMBER 2014

Fredericton) The Green Party's commitment to diversity and transparency has attracted a record number of women candidates standing for provincial office on September 22. The Greens will field 22 women candidates in 46 ridings throughout the province.

"The Green Party is proud of the fact these women, strong community leaders all, have decided to join forces with us as we try to turn the page on the old boys chapter of New Brunswick politics," said Green Party Leader David Coon.

The backgrounds of the women candidates are as varied as their personalities, said Coon. "We have a business manager, an auto repair technician, farmers, green business entrepreneurs, health professionals, educators, and retired business women.

Coon said the slate reflects the values, determination and hard work at the community level of women from all over New Brunswick.
