Fredericton – Tuesday, September 22nd marks one year since the history-making provincial election that saw its first ever Green Party candidate David Coon elected as MLA for Fredericton South.

Over the past year, David has drawn attention to pressing issues provincially including local food security, forest management practices and the need for more transparency in the government.

“The role of a third party in the legislature is to draw attention to issues that have traditionally flown under the radar,” said Coon. “I’m really working to redefine what it means to be an MLA and to represent my constituents.”

In the past 12 months, David has implemented community gatherings in each of the four city wards within his riding. He has set up youth and seniors roundtables to advise him on issues that matter to people in these demographics. He has opened space in the constituency office as a community meeting room for groups that need a place to meet. As MLA he has interacted with countless people in his riding, including:

120 individual constituents he has assisted
126 people and organizations he has toured or met with over various issues
177 crowds he has spoken to or interacted with at events
“I’m honoured to work for the people of Fredericton South and I am eager to continue doing so over the next three years,” said Coon.

David Coon will host a drop-in reception Tuesday, September 22 at the constituency office located at 133 King Street from 12:00-2:00pm to mark the anniversary.
